FUTURE  PERFECT CONTINUOUS TENSE

I’m Future Perfect Continuous Tense. Hope you have attempted the quizzes on Past Perfect Continuous Tense and understood the lesson thoroughly. Now let’s quickly see how I , Future Perfect Continuous Tense help you in framing your statements.

Definition 

“Future Perfect Continuous Tense is used to express an action that will begin before the time of speaking in the coming future and will continue up to the time of speaking.”

She will have been crying for two hours.

Anil will not be playing since noon.

Shall Akhil be carrying his heavy bad for 2 hours ?

 

  1. Key Feature of Future Perfect Continuous TenseHow to recognize Future Perfect Continuous Tense:-
  • Auxiliary Verb – will have been/shall have been + V4 (V1+ing)
  • Timing : since/for Since for + period of time/ point of time.
  • Work is expected to start at a certain time before the time of speaking
  • Since- Point of Time ( Two o’ clock, Last Night, Last Sunday)
  • For- Period of Time ( Two days, Four months, five years)

  • Adverbs of recognition

       Tonight, Next week, later

 

When to use Future Perfect Continuous Tense –

 

1. How long to a point in future ( Pointing Time)

I shall have been sleeping for 4 hours.

Ankita will have been crying since last night.

2. To Express over the lapping actions

I will have been dancing on stage when you arrive.

She will have been waiting for you when you arrive.

3. Future actions as a matter of course

They will have been planning since tonight.

The examination will have been conducted 

 next month on the 5th of August.

Structure of Future Perfect Continuous 

Affirmative

Subject+ will have been/ shall have been + V4 ( V1 + ing) Object+ Since/for+ Time.

 

I Person – shall Have Been

Other Subject – will Have Been

 

It will have been raining since last night.

Ankush will have been studying for 2 hours.

During the condition of confirmation

I Person – will have been

Other Subject –  shall Have been

She shall have arrived in the office, I am sure.

I will have been driving faster than you at that time, I am confirmed. 

Since- Point of Time- 2 o clock, last night, last Sunday

( Definite Time)

For- Period of Time- Two days, five years, four months.

(Indefinite Time)

How ‘ since ’ or ‘ for ‘ is used in all the Perfect Continuous Tenses

Since- Point of Time – Definite Time -( Two o’clock, Last Night, Last Sunday)

For- Period of Time – Indefinite Time ( Two days, Four months, five years)

Structure of Future Perfect Continuous Negative

Subject+ Will/Shall+ Not/ Never + have been+V4 (V1+ing) + Object + Since/for+ Time

 

You will not have been studying since yesterday.

I will never have been waiting for you.

Structure of Future Perfect Continuous Interrogative Type -1 

Will/Shall + Subject + have + been+ +V4 (V1+ing) + object + Since/for+ Time

 

Will you have been cooking since 9a.m?

Will she have been crying for two hours?

Structure of Future Perfect Continuous Interrogative type 2

Wh family word + will/shall + Subject + have Been+ +V4 (V1+ing) + object+ Since/for+ Time

 

Why will you have been beating him since morning?

Where will Ankur have been playing for 3 hours?

Structure of Future Perfect Continuous Interrogative type 3

How much/How many+ related noun+ will/shall+ subject+ have Been+ +V4 (V1+ing) + Object +

Since/for+ Time

Example- How much money will you have been spending on your bike over last 4 months?

Remember – before the adverb ‘ last’ as it shows definite time. 

How many plants will you have been stealing from my garden?

Interrogative Negative

Only remember to add ‘ NOT’ after the ‘ Subject’ remaining part will be the same

 Will you not have been reading this book since last night?

Why will you not have been taking care of yourself for two weeks?

How much money will you not have been spending on your education since last five years?

HOMEWORK

Homework based on Future Perfect Continuous Tense 

 

Imagine your brother/sister has gone to another city for studies . Follow the structure of Future Perfect Continuous Tense and pen down a paragraph expecting what he /she will have been doing since morning to night. 

 

Example –

My brother will have been studying since 4 am. He will have been having his bath for 15 minutes…….
